Edward Walter Hein passed away suddenly at his home from a massive heart attack in Forsyth, Montana on October 16, 2019. he was 75 years old. Eddie was born in Forsyth on November 7th, 1943 to Walter William Hein and Vina Nona (Leary) Hein.
Eddie was the middle of his parents’ children, but he also had two half-siblings from his mother’s first marriage. He attended school in Forsyth, graduating from Forsyth High School in 1962. He moved to Casper, Wyoming where he worked at Rocky Mountain Pack while going to night classes at Casper College, graduating with a 2-year degree in Mechanics. Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and honorably discharged in 1966.
Upon his return home from military service, he met and married Pearl Eileen Krueger in Forsyth. They were married July 15th, 1967. Eddie worked at the Forsyth Standard Station until he was hired at Peabody Coal on May 4th, 1970. He worked for Peabody Coal until 2005, then he went to work for Western Energy Coal Company, retiring in 2010.
Eddie and Pearl were blessed with two children, Larry Alan, born May 17th, 1969 and Kimberly Sue, born on June 27th, 1971, and they also have 3 grandchildren. Eddie was always a friend to those around him, and he was known to “help out” with things whenever a friend or family member needed him. Everyone in Forsyth knew that they could count on Eddie Hein to be there when needed. Eddie had a big heart, a quick smile and was always quick to laugh. These were things he always shared with those he came across.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, half-sister Marion Kanta, and half-brother Walter Schulenberg, brothers in law John Kanta and Hugh Krueger, sister in law Joann Schulenberg and Bonnie Hein.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Pearl Hein, son Larry (Dawn Underwood) Hein, daughter Kimberly (Michael) Arani, sister Esther Hein, brother Bernard Hein, brothers in law, Claude (Nina) Krueger and Art (Virginia) Krueger, and sister in law Rosie (Craig) Steinbach, grandsons Dalton (Shelby Racki) Hein, Shawn (Katie) Arani, granddaughter, last but not less loved, Destiny Hein, and numerous nephews and nieces.

The news of Eddie’s passing came as a shock. He was such a faithful friend to Sam when he battled those nasty heart issues. Eddie came to the house and sat at his bedside and visited more than once. A letter from Eddie came at a particularly tough time that encouraged Sam to hang tough and get back to work because “we miss you helping us figure out how to get out of some of the predicaments that happen.” Those visits and the well-worn letter were appreciated more than words can convey.
