Edwin John Oster, 84 years old, of Miles City, MT passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, on September 6, 2006.
Ed was born on February 12, 1922 in Hebron, ND, the son of John and Ida Oster. He attended school in Hebron, ND through high school. Ed enlisted in the Marine Corp and served from December 6, 1941 through December 5, 1945 as a tech with a rank of Sergeant. Shortly after the Marine Corp, Ed married Loretta E. Sager of Graceville, Minnesota on November 1st, 1958 and began working for the United States Postal Service. Ed worked there from 1948 through 1978. He retired in Miles City and enjoyed amateur Radio, going to church, liked photography and spending time with his wife and friends. Ed was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the amateur radio club in Miles City.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Loretta and son David John Oster, also his brothers Marvin, Walter and Leroy and his sister Florence.
Ed is survived by his children Richard E. Oster of Sand Point, ID, Brian K. (Brenda) Oster of Wichita, KS and Denise K. (Cy) Ellerd of Billings, MT, his sisters; Alice, Eleanor (Art) and Shirley and brother Harold (Eunice). Ed is also survived by his grandchildren; Cammie, Angie, David, Deanna, Matthew and Zadoc and great-grandchild Kileigh along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 with the family to receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post # 1579.
