Edwin Leslie Solle, age 88 of Terry, passed on to his Lord & Savior on July 14, 2020 at the Prairie County Nursing Home.
Ed was born on January 10, 1932 in Terry, MT at the Angus Tourists Cabins. Weighing in at 4lbs and 11oz he could fit in a shoebox; unbeknown the remarkable things he would do for himself and his family. He was the son of Al and Laura (Clark) Solle. As the oldest of five siblings: Arthur H., Marjorie L., Darlene & Earl Albert. He was known for his “big brother” attitude and became an uncle to their children that most would envy. They grew up on the family ranch which was known as the old Burt place. It is still with the family today as the Solle Ranch which is coming up on its 100th year anniversary; with many more years to come. Ed went to school and graduated from Terry High School in 1950. As many ranchers did, he evolved from sheep ranching into cattle ranching. On March 7, 1971 he married Karen Ulrich. To this marriage they had two children, Alroy and Lisa. As a family they continued to raise cattle and be stewards of the land. Ed had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good visit. He loved hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities. Most of all he loved his family. He was a member of the Terry Lodge #74 of Freemasons for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen and his parents Al and Laura.
Ed is survived by his children: Alroy (Tasha) Solle of Terry, MT and Lisa (Buck) Brown of Miles City, MT; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Justin, Sierra and Devin; and great grandson: Grayson.

Alroy, Tasha, Devin, and Lisa and Buck and Family, We are so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was a good neighbor and a good friend. He surely could smoke a good batch of ribs! I always enjoyed talking sports with him, and he and Larry talked alot of history of the area. We loved how he enjoyed Devin, and also his little tractor. He will be missed. These are the times we miss living in Prairie County, but we are keeping all of you in our prayers as you grieve.

Ted Ray says
I was blessed to share many a hunting season at the Solle Ranch.
Ed reminded me of my own father in so many ways, his political views, words of wisdom, and his gravy.
He didn’t like cell phones, so he sent me letters that I enjoyed reading.
He was living history with his stories, and view points.
A true Rancher, family man, outdoor sportsman who impressed on me the importance of “God given meat”
God bless your soul, you will be missed until we meet again
Sincerely,
Ted Ray

Dear Solle family,
So sorry to hear of Ed’s passing, keeping you all in my prayers at this difficult time.
I know Ted and Howard loved the time they spent on your ranch, wonderful memories.
Also the great hospitality shown to all of us the summer we came with the family. What a wonderful experience for my daughters to treasure, up close and words of wisdom he shared with our girls. How blessed for them to be able to experience the true Montana way.
They still talk about the prairie dog town, and horse back riding with Ed.
Ed taught Melina how to play rummy
God bless you all

So sorry to hear about Ed.
He was a big part of my life in teaching me how to hunt and to appreciate the ranch life. He is the reason I am the man I am today. He will always remain in my heart as a gentle giant and most importantly, my mentor. My love and prayers to all.
