Eileen was born on July 16th, 1922 in Baxter, MN, the daughter of Harry and Emma (Newman) Swift. She attended grade school in Brainard Minnesota. She later married Torlev Olson and together had 6 children. In 1962 she married Walter Pettibone in Miles City, MT. The couple had 2 children where they lived together on the family ranch near Biddle MT. until retirement. After they retired, they wintered in Truth or Consequence, New Mexico. In 2006 Eileen moved back to the family ranch near Biddle, MT to be closer to her family. She then moved into the TLC and finally to Powder River Manor at the end of her life.
Eileen loved to socialize. She would play cards all day and night if she could have, as well as dance the night away 5 nights a week. Eileen loved to be at any of many family gatherings to socialize.
Eileen is survived by a sister, Maxine Blutcher of West Minister, CO; Six sons: Laverne Olson (Linda Martin) of Williston, ND; Don Olson (Shirley) of Virginia, Mike (Kathy) Olson of Moorcroft, WY, Larry Olson (Theresa) of Washington, Bruce Olson (Barb Mann) of Belt, MT, and Mark (Dawn) Pettibone of Cadillac, MI. She is also survived by two daughters: Mary Olson Lownds of Gillette, WY and Pam (Chester) Bruce of Biddle, MT. Eileen is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Pettibone; her brothers Archie Swift, Raymond Swift, Bill Swift and Lester Swift; her sisters: Mary Lou Johnston, Bertha Swift and Viola Hudson and parents Harry and Emma Swift.
A celebration of Eileen´s life will be held on August 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City, MT. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
