Funeral services for Eileen Pond, 54, of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 24, 2003 at the Jericho Baptist Church in Gillette with Pastor Dale Russell officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette. Visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 PM on Thursday October 23, 2003 at the Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette.
Mrs. Eileen Pond passed away at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming on Saturday, October 18, 2003 after a long illness with kidney disease.
Eileen Sue Pond was born on February 9, 1949 at Ft. Riley, Kansas to Paul and Pauline (Hendricks) Adams. Eileen grew up in a military family, where moving around was common. At the age of nine, Eileen and her family settled in El Paso, Texas where she attended Irvin High School. On December 11, 1970, Eileen married Steven Pond at the Sun Valley Baptist Temple in El Paso, Texas. In 1972, Eileen and her husband moved to Yerington, Nevada. They worked and lived in Nevada until their retirement. They moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1979.
She enjoyed crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. Eileen and her husband participated in the Bus Ministry, hauling children to and from church. She was especially fond of the kids and they affectionately referred to her as Grandma. Eileen had a special place in her heart for her dogs and cats, whom she loved very much.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Steven Pond of Gillette, WY; her mother, Pauline Asch of El Paso, TX: one brother, John Q. Adams and his wife Nancy, of El Paso, TX; one sister, Alice Adams of Dallas, TX; two nieces: Vena Wedge and Faith Adams; and one great nephew, Ryan Wedge.
Eileen is preceded in death by her father.
