Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City.

Rite of Committal: Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Baker.

Elaine Marie Barrett, age 79, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.

Elaine was born in Watertown, South Dakota on June 10, 1930, the daughter of Nicholas M. and Lila R. (Barkley) Barrett. She grew up and attended schools in the Baker area. She then attended College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota and worked at St. Josephs Hospital. She then furthered her education at the University of Washington where she received her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in Seattle, California and Billings before coming to Miles City in the early 1980s where she worked for the VA Hospital and took care of her parents. She had remained in Miles City until the time of her death.

Elaine was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in Stevenson & Sons grief group for many years.

Elaine is survived by a sister-in-law, Bernice Barrett of Glasgow, MT and her children: Ben (Connie) Boreson and family of Opheim, MT; and Scott (Myrtle) Boreson and family of Hinsdale, MT; a special cousin, Bea Barkley of Baker, MT; and numerous other cousins: Carol Hunter and family of Shelton, WA; Becky (Alvin) Croy and family of Baker, MT; Tim Barkley and family of Baker, MT; Terri (Don) Butcher and son of Billings, MT; and Tammy (Curt) Arnell and family of Baker, MT; Deb Kosbad and family of Apache Junction, AZ; Bernice (Tom) Buckingham and family of Baxter, MN; Wade Klauzer and family of Baker, MT; and Jean (Brad) Culver and family of Princeton, MN; and special friends Earl and Jean Kiddie of Miles City. Elaine is also survived by a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Lila Barrett; brother, Leo Dwayne Barrett; cousins: Cleo Barkley and Lois Zupanik.

A Vigil service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the family lot of St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Baker. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Church or the Sacred Heart School.
