Elaine Theresa (Bear) Sears, 64, of Wolf Point died September 18, 2003 at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings after a complication following surgery.

She was born January 10, 1929 in Ft. Belknap Agency Hospital, Montana, daughter of George and Lucille Bear. After losing her mother at age two, she was raised by her grandmother Minnie Bear and grew up in Lodgepole, Montana. She attended boarding school in Flandreau, South Dakota and came to live in Wolf Point. Here he met Verner Wayne Sears and they married on August 20, 1957. They then moved to Los Angeles where she raised six children. She also attended night school, received her diploma and worked at an automotive center as a secretary. After living in California for 12 years, they moved back to Wolf Point, Montana.

She enjoyed going to pow-wows, beading, driving around, spending time with her family and playing cards with her grandchildren and going to Bingo. She loved life despite some of the curves it dealt her medically. She suffered a stroke, which paralyzed her right side, however, she was determined to walk and talk again, which she did. Diabetes caused her to have her leg amputated, and that still didn't stop her from enjoying her family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her three daughters and three sons: Barbara (Frankie) Toves of Wolf Point, Andrew (Reva) Sears of Hays, Michelle (Mike) McCabe of Harlem, Michael (Shelly) Sears of Sidney, Verner Jr. (Julie) of Wolf Point, Brenda (Dave) Doney of Wolf Point. She has numerous grandchildren and one great-grandson numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne and daughter Andrea.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Wolf Point with Rev. Fr. Steve Zabrocki officiating. Interment will be in King Cemetery in Wolf Point. Remembrances may be sent to the family at our website www.stevensonandsons.com
