EleanorMargarite Crane, age 91, of Broadus passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.
Eleanor was born on October 11, 1915 in Lohrville, Iowa the daughter of William Louis and Josie (Kelly) Gormally. At the age of three, she moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa with her family, where she attended schools and graduated from Corpus Christi Academy and Fort Dodge High School. Eleanor went on to Aimes College, now known as Iowa State University. She later attended Fort Dodge Business College while working for Montgomery Wards. Eleanor began as a cashier and later moved up to be the credit manager in Alhambra, CA. Her job continued to relocate her, moving her to Huntington Park in 1941. On April 7, 1942, Eleanor and Jack Crane were married in Los Angeles, CA. Jack was in the military, so she stayed with her parents in Fort Dodge until after the war, when she returned to the Los Angeles area with Jack. In 1959, they moved to Torrance, California where they made their home for nine years. In 1968, the family moved to Broadus where she has lived since. For the last 22 years, Eleanor substituted at the Powder River Schools and was a Funeral Assistant for Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus until her passing.
Eleanor remained an active member of the Powder River Community throughout her life. She was a member of the St. Davids Alter Society, V.F.W. Womens Auxiliary, the local bridge club, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Senior Citizens, Tops and an active member of the St. Davids Catholic Church. She loved to travel and had visited every state in the union and enjoyed going overseas. Eleanors traveling left her with many special memories and different friends along the way.
Eleanor is survived by her son Boo Crane of Broadus, MT and two grandchildren; Jack H. Crane and Carrie Crane and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Betty Gormally of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Crane in 1995, son William Frederick Crane, and siblings; James William Gormally, Lenore Mungo and Alice LaRocca.
Visitation will begin on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus, MT. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Davids Catholic Church in Broadus, MT. Interment will follow in the family plot of Valley View Cemetery in Broadus, MT.
