EleanorHarbaugh, age 97, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008.
She was born August 1, 1910, in Miles City, Montana toJosephine Albertina Carlson and Elmer Eugene Drake.Eleanor lived on a ranch near Coalwood, Montana. She rode with her older brother, Lester, on horseback 8 to 10 miles to attend a country school. They boarded with the teacher during the week. After a few years of school, the family moved to California for about one year and then moved to Minnesota. They returned to Miles City in her early teens where she graduated from Custer County High School in 1929. She married Ralph Waldo Harbaugh March 16, 1941, in Miles City. They lived at 840 Truscott Street. Ralph passed away October 23, 1958.
Eleanor belonged to several community organizations, some of which were the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Home Demonstration Club, the Army Mothers, the Sewing Club, the Garden Club, and the Birthday Club. She was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church.
Eleanor continued to live in Miles City until June of 2003 when she went to live with her son, Leroy, and his wife, Myrna, in Orem, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her half brothers, Clifton Drake, Leon Drake, StanleyRilley, and Lester Rilley, her half sister Vivi, and her parents Josephine Albertina Carlson and Elmer Eugene Drake.
Eleanor Lorena Harbaugh is survived by her two sons Loren Harbaugh (Bessie Roberts) of Kearns, Utah, and Leroy Harbaugh (Myrna Ernst) of Orem, Utah, 15 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and the funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home, 1717 Main Street, in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
