On the afternoon of July 2, 2018 Betty passed away at Holy Rosary Hospital of natural causes. Betty was 81 years old.
Betty was born September 26, 1936 in Lame Deer, MT. She was the second child and first daughter of Kash “Buster” and Ione Spang. Betty grew up on her family ranch at Muddy Creek on the Cheyenne Reservation with her five brothers and one sister. She attended and graduated from St. Labre School in Ashland, MT. Betty met and married the love of her life, Harvey Frye in 1955. They settled in Miles City and had two children, Daniel and Lorna. She lived and worked in the Miles City community until her passing. Much of her childhood was spent playing music in church and with the family band. Betty loved to read and spend quiet time playing scrabble, solitaire and working puzzles. She had a passion for sports and loved cheering for the Seattle Seahawks and San Antonio Spurs. She had a special love for watching her granddaughter Shelby play hockey from grade school through high school.
Betty was passionate about family stories and was very charismatic when telling her grandchildren those stories. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to her six grandchildren Dustin Frye, Ryan Frye, Gage Frye, Shelby Frye, Natalie Benner and Samuel Benner. Betty had one great-grandchild, Parker Frye.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, parents Kash and Ione Spang, brothers Marvin and Donny Spang and half-sister Joyce Lahn and half-brother Kenneth Spang. Betty is survived by her children Daniel Frye and Lorna Benner, brothers Joe Con, George and Lloyd (Shorty) Spang, and sister Lucy Stilson.
A special thanks to Christel Hellickson, Sherry Stoltz, and Victoria Arneson for their friendship, love and support.
Thank you also to Stevenson & Sons for their friendship to the family over the years. They are greatly appreciated. We all know them to be kind and professional during the most difficult of times in our lives.
Betty was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Dear Lorna, Dan and Family,
This is never a easy part of life when our parents pass. I am thinking of you with my love and sympathy.
I have many treasured memories of Betty. She was always very good to me growing up. I am happy to say I still have her chocolate chip cookie recipe that were always available at the “Frye” house-yummy!
Whenever I would see Betty and chat, her face would light up talking about her Family. She was very proud of her kids and grandkids! I will remember Betty with that beautiful smile and her eyes all aglow. God Bless you.
Much Love,
Tory
