Elizabeth Mary Krueger, age 81, of Columbus passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Stillwater Hospital in Columbus. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her, but especially by her children, grandchildren and family.
Mary was born in Columbus, Montana on May 5, 1929, the daughter of Hugh Joseph and Elizabeth Mary (Dolan) Heily. She attended country grade school through the eighth grade at Shane Creek School and went to high school at Columbus, Montana, graduating in 1946. Afterward, Mary attended Eastern Montana College for two quarters and then went to nursing school at Carroll College in Helena. In 1947, she went to California where she married Jack Krueger on December 12 of that year. While in California, she worked for the telephone company. They then returned to Columbus where she and Jack ranched and raised their family.
Mary was involved as a 4-H Leader, a band parent, and was involved in home demonstration. She enjoyed painting ceramics, horseback riding and warm weather. Mary's strength and determination will not be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Krueger of Columbus, MT; two sons: Jack Krueger Jr. and his wife Kimberley of Columbus, MT; Paul Krueger and his wife Carol of Miles City, MT; a son-in-law, Phil Cox of Billings, MT; a daughter-in-law, Angela Krueger of Columbus, MT; 9 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Karen Cox; a son, David Krueger; a brother, William Heily; and a sister, Margaret Ferro.
