Funeral Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Internment: will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in family lot of the Custer County Cemetery with military honors.
Ella Vivian Gedney
Ella Vivian Gedney, age 87, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2003 at her home in Miles City.
Ella was born in Miles City, Montana on August 20, 1915 the daughter of Ira M. and Sarah I. (Butterbaugh) Yothers. She attended schools in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School. Following graduation, she worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Pennys. She enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, serving during World War II. On April 25, 1945, she married Frederick Gedney at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Following her honorable discharge from the service, they lived in Port Chester, New York with Freds parents for a while before moving to Miles City where she raised her family and has remained since. Ella enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, going for rides, vacationing, camping, crocheting & embroidering in her younger days. She enjoyed working in her garden and was a wonderful mother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ella is survived by her daughter, Vicki Wright and her husband Wayne of Carlsbad, CA; three sons: Douglas Gedney and his wife Barbara of Sammamish, WA; Stuart Gedney and his wife Jayna of Kirkland, WA; and Gregory Gedney of Miles City, MT; two sisters: Sarah Hickle of Great Falls, MT; and Martha Braunbeck of Miles City, MT; six grandchildren: Sean, Wayne Jr., Ian Wright, Justin Gedney, Joe and Joshua Gedney; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in family lot of the Custer County Cemetery with military honors.
