Funeral Service: Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Miles City.
Our very special Mother and Grandmother, Kate Eichler, left her earthly struggles behind and entered into the heavenly arms of Jesus on March 8, 2011 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. She died peacefully in her sleep at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Kate was born August 9, 1932 along the Niobrara River at her aunts home near Verdigre, NE to Ed and Agnes Skalicky. Her early years were spent on a farm northwest of Winner, South Dakota. She attended the Eden country schools before moving into the town of Winner to attend high school. She graduated from Winner High School in 1949; 3 months shy of her 17th birthday. While in high school she worked for Dr. Studenberg who was a big influence in her life. She continued to work for him after high school and due to his influence she attended nursing school for 1 years at St. Josephs School of Nursing in Omaha, NE. Shortly thereafter she met Ike Eichler and they were married in Scottsbluff, NE on November 4th, 1955. They moved to the family ranch outside of Castle Rock, South Dakota where their son Mark was born. After leaving the ranch, Ike, Kate, and Mark moved around while working for the Crowell Collier Publishing Co. Their daughter Sally was born in Watertown, South Dakota. After their daughter was born, they settled in Winner, South Dakota. They lived in Winner until 1975 when they moved to Miles City, Montana. Kate became a realtor in Miles City working for Berg Realty, Town and Country Realty, and retiring from Mullen Realty in 2005. She was a long time member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and served as the church treasurer for 30 + years.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Agnes, an infant brother, her only sister Carol Kauer, and her beloved in-laws Elmer and Lenora Eichler.She will be greatly missed by her husband of 55 years, Ike of Miles City, son Mark and wife Carol of Helena, MT, daughter Sally and husband Bruce of Billings, Montana, grandchildren Jonathan Eichler of Helena, MT, Jayme Eichler of McMinville, OR, Jordan Klatt of Phoenix, AZ, and Alex Klatt of Billings, MT as well as daughter in-law Debbie Peterson of Helena, MT
She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, a faithful friend, and for the special love she had for her children and grandchildren. Mom, we love you and are so happy that you are free. You were the best mom anyone could ever ask for. Mark and Sally.
Visitation with be held on Thursday, March 10, 2001 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be Friday, March 11, 2011 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Miles City at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in South Dakota. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
