Ellen Bernice Saylor, age 93, of Jordan passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at her home in Jordan.
Ellen was born in Miles City, Montana on June 12, 1916, the daughter of Fredrick and Emma (Dent) Loomis. She grew up and attended school at the Iller Country School at Brusett, Montana and attended High School in Jordan. She worked in Miles City until she married Woodrow Saylor on August 21, 1936 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. They then moved to Jordan until 1940, moving to the family ranch at Brusett until the fall of 1956 when they moved to Jordan but continued towork the ranch at Brusett.
Ellen enjoyedspending time with her family and friends, playing cards, music and dancing, gardening, and going to the senior citizen center. She was a member of Blackfoot Home Demonstration Club, V.F.W. Aux. and Royal Neighbors.
Ellen is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Philip) Murnion of Jordan, MT; Marion (Lance) Peeler of Boulder, MT; a foster son Art (Etta) Rich of Lewistown, MT; a sister, Clara Vannoy of Lewistown, MT; nineteen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, and sixteen great greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Woodrow Saylor in 1993, a son Claude Saylor in 2001, two grandsons: John Saylor in 1988 and Edward Murnion in 2001; a great grandson Joshua Murnion in2005; three brothers and two sisters.
A vigil service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Jordan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Jordan. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the family lot of the Hearts of Peace Cemetery at Brusett. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
