Ellen Scheeler, age 83, of Miles City

December 9, 1937 – November 14, 2021

Ellen Mae Scheeler, age 83, passed away peacefully November 14, 2021 due to congestive heart failure.

Ellen was born December 9, 1937 in Belfield, ND to Mathew and Stella (Gill) Smith. She graduated from Belfield in1955. She was married to Ralph Frank Scheeler, on February 13 of 1956 at St. Bernards Catholic Church Belfield, ND. Ralph preceded her in death in 1999.

For many years Ellen worked at Miles City Laundry as an Office Manager for 15 years and Eastern Montana Industries as a Training Supervisor helping the clients for 11 years. Ellen loved vacation and travel with her family. She would travel all over the United States visiting her brothers and sisters that lived throughout.

Ellen loved to knit and crochet, creating numerous, hats, scarfs, mittens, blankets, and doilies for friends and family. She was an avid puzzle enthusiast, including crosswords, picture, and jigsaw puzzles. Ellen was a great owl collector. Her collection included over 1000 + owls and as her collection grew, everyone wanted to help out buying her owls from everywhere. She has owls brought to her from all over the United States, England, Honduras, Italy, Peru, Denmark, etc.
Ellen loved reminiscing of childhood memories and sharing them with her grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her four sons: Dean Scheeler and his wife Dorte, Fargo, ND; James Scheeler and his wife Anita Miles City, MT; Warren Scheeler and his wife Rashell, Miles City, Montana; and Keith Scheeler and his wife Tammy, Billings, MT; Sister Doris Wagner, Dickinson, ND; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren with one on the way she was hoping to see. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 6 brothers: Lloyd Smith, Melvin Smith, Marvin Smith, Laurence Smith, Eldon Smith, and Donald Smith; and 4 sisters: Bernice Rosenberg, Florence Rosenberg, Gladys Kutil, Marvel Jean Opp.

Family will receive Friends on Sunday November 21, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Rosary and Vigil service will start 4:00 p.m. following the Family Receive Friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
