Elmer Boschee, age 82, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City.
Elmer was born on November 18, 1931 in Miles City, Montana, the son of August and Matilda (Treichel) Boschee, along with his twin sister Eileen. Elmer was one of nine children. Elmer attended Kircher School thru 8th grade. Then he quit school and went to work for Glen Monte on his ranch 29 miles south of town all summer and fall. He then went to work at Lockie’s for 4 ½ years then joined the Navy at the age of 19, serving four years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on December 14, 1954. Upon his return, he went back to work for Lockie’s again. Elmer married Mable Ann (Larson) MacKenzie on June, 25 1958. In September of 1958 they moved to Hathaway, MT where they leased the ranch until they purchased it 6 years later using a loan from Ann’s father Arthur. They raised Ann’s two sons Kenny & Keith from Ann’s previous marriage to John MacKenzie. Elmer adopted Kenny & Keith May 13th, 1971 after their father passed away on November 16, 1970. Ann and Elmer faithfully supported Kenny and Keith’s academic and athletic activities while attending school in Rosebud. They especially loved and rarely missed watching their football and basketball games. After Elmer became gravely ill in 1993, a decision was made to sell the ranch and move to Miles City in March of 1994 and they bought a house on North Winchester. Ann continued to work full time at Holy Rosary Hospital as a registered nurse. Elmer’s health improved enough to where he could work again and enjoyed helping out several ranching friends, doing what he loved most. He loved riding horses, working cattle, haying, calving, branding and most of all running wild horses. He also enjoyed attending the High School basketball games especially at tournament time.
Elmer is survived by his two sons: Keith Boschee of Casper, WY and Kenny (Ava) Boschee of Miles City, MT; a sister, Lorene of Klamath Falls, Oregon; a brother Ervin of Miles City; a grandson Kevin Boschee of Miles City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mable Ann Boschee; his parents August & Matilda; two brothers: Art and Ed; and four sisters: Emma, Viola, Delores and Eileen.

If they run horses in Heaven, I can just see Dick Chezum and Elmer saddling up this morning.
Elmer was a great friend to my folks and was with my Dad in 1996 when he took his last ride.
I am so thankful for Elmer in our lives, I admired the man and trusted his judgment. I will sure miss him as will the rest of the Chezum clan. He was so kind and had such wisdom. Rest in Peace my friend. Mary Beth & Myron

I will never forget the orphan colt you gave me from the Barley Ranch. I was about 9 or 10 and you gave me a lot of fun… hey that’s about 60 years ago. Have a peaceful trip to where the grass is always green.
Jack and Jannell (daughter) Hedstrom says
Jack sure misses you Elmer and always looked forward to having coffee with you every morning at 4-Bs. He really thought alot about you and will always remember all the stories you have told him. I’m sure they have plenty of pancakes and honey / bacon cheeseburgers up there in heaven. Or at least I hope so. I’m happy you have been been reunited with Anne and holding tight onto each other. I will miss you as you had become part of my week and will miss your laugh and stories and how you’d always take my hand and say…”becareful so you’ll come back another day”. You have left a ever lasting impression in my heart and I’ll never forget you. Rest in Peace Elmer I’ll never forget you <3

This doesn’t seem possible. Elmer has been a fixture in my families life for a lot of years. I was quite young the first time I met Elmer. My dad and I were wandering around one of his pastures looking for relics. Elmer stopped to see what the hell we were doing. Dad explained and Elmer said go ahead. Since then we have hunted on his place, just stopped and visited and drank a lot of coffee with Elmer. My folks will miss him greatly as I will. Dad (George) drank coffee with Elmer twice a day for many years. Everybody that knew Elmer will miss him. Lund family condolences to Elmer’s family.
Mike Malenovsky says
I was thinking of the year that I lived with Boshee’s when I was in high school. It was 40 years ago, but it sure doesn’t seem that long ago. I enjoyed my time then and later visiting with Elmer at 4-Bs or at the sale barn. Kieth and Kenny, I will be thinking and praying for you in this loss.
RJ and Julie Hubbard says
Elmer,
Your were a great cowboy and a good friend. We will never forget the long days we put in on the LO with you. You were also a great house guest for that long week of ultrasounding heifers. I hope you find your best horses and friends in heaven! Oh yes and Black Forest Cake!
Jackie and Bill Lamach says
I though Elmer would be around a lot longer and was so sadden to hear of his passing. I always meant to invite him over for a home cooked dinner and that never happened. I wish you the family members sincere condolences and, Elmer I can see you now back on the ranch and riding one of your saddle horses. I’ll never forget that you were my side kick in the BHS Parade as a flag barrier carrying the VFW Flag. Rest in Peace in Cowboy Heaven!!
Jessie and Jim Leidholt says
Elmer has been Jim’s friend for 70 years and Jim had many special stories that involved Elmer. Jessie always said that Elmer reminded her of Jack Kennedy. Can’t get much better than that. Rest in peace dear friend.
Merry and Armando says

Dear family of Elmer Boschee – I am sorry to hear of your loss. May God give you peace and comfort through his sure promise to give us comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). Almighty God also promises to fulfill our desires, not just our needs in the future (Psalms 145:16). Cherish all the happy memories of Mr. Boschee and I hope you are comforted by Bible promises (John 17:3).

Watching Elmer ride broncs at the Terry rodeo was a memory of my younger years. We sat next to him at the rodeo last year and had good visits about all the Terry rodeos he had attended. We always liked helping at his branding.
