Elsie remained on the ranch, raising chickens and gardens until two years ago when she moved to Victoria, TX. She was a charter member of the Brockway Homemakers Club enjoying the monthly meetings and camaraderie with her friends. She was a faithful member of the Jordan Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1952. Reading her Bible was one of her favorite pastimes and she could quote scripture as well as anyone. Gardening and cooking were other favorite things to do and she did them extremely well. She would share the bounty of her garden with friends and neighbors as her gardens would always produce more than the family could consume. Her culinary skills with German dishes were legendary as many friends and family members can attest.
Besides her husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters, Jeanie and Darcy Birge, sister Annetta, brothers Allen, Herbert, Reuben, Walter, infant Howard and Marvin.
