Elsie Bieber, age 90, formerly of Brockway,MT passed away at Detar Navarro Hospital in Victoria, TX on June 26, 2007.

Elsie was born June 14, 1917 at Watkins, MT where her parents had homesteaded approximately two miles west of Chalk Butte, MT in what is now northern Prairie County. She received her formal education at the Elhard School but could not attend high school as she was needed to help care for her brothers and sisters.Elsie and Edwin Bieber were married November 18, 1939 in Elk Grove Congregational Church in Elk Grove, CA. They were married 47 years at the time of Edwins death in 1987.

To this union three children were born: Leroy (Lynda) of Victoria, TX, with whom she resided, Harvey (Jerilyn) of rural Brockway, and Virginia (Newton) Birge of Dove Creek, CO.

She is survived by eight grandchildren: Scott (Marcy) Bieber of League City, TX, Amy Bieber of Walla Walla, WA, Chad Bieber of Dickinson, ND, Cord Bieber of Brockway, Kelcey Bieber of Bozeman,MT, Debbie (Scott) Johnston of Phoenix, AZ, Jason Birge and Jeremy Birge of Dove Creek, CO.

She leaves behind a sister, Ruth Wiebold of Kendrick, ID; brothers, Bernie (Sara) Eslinger of Peck, ID, Harold (Melva) Eslinger of Pleasant Hill, CA, numerous nephews and nieces as well as cousins and other relatives in Eastern Montana.

Elsie remained on the ranch, raising chickens and gardens until two years ago when she moved to Victoria, TX. She was a charter member of the Brockway Homemakers Club enjoying the monthly meetings and camaraderie with her friends. She was a faithful member of the Jordan Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1952. Reading her Bible was one of her favorite pastimes and she could quote scripture as well as anyone. Gardening and cooking were other favorite things to do and she did them extremely well. She would share the bounty of her garden with friends and neighbors as her gardens would always produce more than the family could consume. Her culinary skills with German dishes were legendary as many friends and family members can attest.

Besides her husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters, Jeanie and Darcy Birge, sister Annetta, brothers Allen, Herbert, Reuben, Walter, infant Howard and Marvin.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 9, 2007 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle with viewing from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle, MT. Interment will be at Dawson Memorial Garden in Glendive, MT at 2 p.m. following a luncheon at Schmidts.
