Interment: will follow in the family lot, of the Steve Fork Cemetery
Elsie Mae (Wheatcroft) Schofield, age 95, of Glendive, formerly of Jordan went to be with God on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive with her family at her side.
Elsie was born on June 30, 1914 in Lewiston, Idaho to Thomas and Mary AgnesWheatcroft. She attended a country school in the Steve Fork area and graduated from Garfield County High School. She attended St. Josephs School of Nursing in Lewistown, graduating in 1942, with a Bachelordegree in Nursing. She worked a short time in Fort Benton but returned to the ranch, to take care of her father, brother and uncle. She was united in marriage to Andrew Schofield on April 9, 1952 in Hamilton, Montana. They lived in Great Falls for two years until Andy was transferred to Benchland as manager of Montana Elevator.Theyreturned to the family ranch in 1954,due to ashortage of help,where they resided until 1990, when they leased the ranch and moved to Glendive to be near their daughter Andeen.Elsie was a member of the Eastern Star for close to 60 years andalso a member of the First Congregational Church in Glendive. Elsie loved the country life. She enjoyed the changing seasons:listening in spring for the 1st meadowlarks song, planning, planting and raising a wonderful garden & beautiful flowers. Canning& preserving Gods harvest, for you never know what "next year" would bring. And she even enjoyed snow & Jack Frost handywork. Elsiehad a great love of animals, butespecially her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jimmy.
She leaves behind her husband Andy, daughter Andeen (Bruce) Raymond of Glendive, MT, grandson Daniel (Jennifer) Raymond of Lacey, WA, and their babydue in February and hergranddaughterVicki (Mike) James of Glendive, MT,with their children Brendan, Connor andMikah. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
Visitation will begin on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Glendive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Glendive. A second service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Interment will follow in the family lot, of the Steve Fork Cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.
