Elsie Irene Steiner, age 93, of Miles City passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005 at TLC Personal Care in Miles City.

Elsie was born on July 10, 1911, on a farm near Moffit, North Dakota to Charles and Clara (Klipstein) Soule. She attended Buchanan Valley Country School near Moffit, High School in Hazelton, North Dakota and College at NDAC in Fargo, North Dakota. On February 14, 1934, she was united in marriage to Edward Earl Steiner in Bismarck, North Dakota. They moved to the Coalwood, Montana area in March of 1934, to live with Earls grandfather, W. E. Hudson, on a farm. They resided in the Coalwood area for 9 years before moving to Miles City in 1943. Elsie was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Degree of Honor, Milwaukee Railroad Womens Club U.T.U, Good Sam, Yellowstone Agate Club, AARP, and Senior Citizen Top Hatters Band and Range Riders Reps. She loved music and played for entertainment at the V.A. Hospital, Friendship Villa, Custer County Rest Home, Eagles Manor, Drop In Center, and for the Range Riders Reps. Playing piano for countless dances and retirement homes gave her great satisfaction in life. Caring for her grandchildren was also a great thrill for her. Her love of animals was also shared by her children.

Elsie is survived by 3 sons: Cloyd Steiner and his wife Betty of Miles City, MT; Dennis Steiner and his wife Vi of Las Vegas, NV; and Kay Steiner and his wife Karla of Sparks, NV; ten grandsons, one granddaughter, eleven great grandsons, and one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, a son, Gary; a daughter, Earlene Nation; brothers: Harvey and Howard Soule, and sisters: Ruth Baeth and Lillian Faust. Oddly enough was the fact that she and her siblings produced 18 children of which 15 were boys and 3 were girls for a total of 36 boys and 5 girls in 3 generations.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.
