Emil P. (Two Two) Fraser, Meonahane (Early Morning Killer), our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was called home by Maheo on Sunday March 15, 2009.
Emil, was born November 17, 1933 in a tent at Wounded Knee, SD., to Stephen Two Two Sr. and Thelma (Foote) Two Two. He was the eldest son of twelve children.He was raised on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. He was very proud of his American Indian lineage. His education began at St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, MT. He graduated from Busby Boarding School in 1951. Emil excelled in various sports but his love was basketball. He had a saying, Do to a ball what a monkey does to a peanut.
After high school Emil served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve after being discharged. He began a very full life of employment that started as a teachers aide and custodian for St. Labre. He was also employed by the B.I.A., Northern Cheyenne Tribal Director of P.W.I.P and the Elderly Program, in Oklahoma as a truck driver and an Exxon Mobile employee. He returned home to Ashland to work and retire from the Tongue River Lumber Mill. In retirement, he became an avid farmer and was also the Ashland district chair for numerous years. You could always count on Emils 2-acre garden to be the finest in town. His hobbies were canning, fishing, hunting, watching basketball games, cooking and singing with Al Larance.
He is preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Thelma Two Two, brothers George, Calvin, Raymond, and Steve Two Two, a son Barry Fraser, and a sister Theresa Two Two.Emil was married three times, and is survived by his children Dixie (Dan) Garfield of Billings, Yolanda Fraser of Lame Deer, Jay Dean Fraser of Lame Deer, Jerry, Perry & Latisha Fraser all of Oklahoma, Emily Fraser of Ashland, his grandson Jullian whom he raised, stepsons Dana Redbird of Hardin, and Kevin Redbird of Colorado. Two adopted daughters Lavonne Quiroz and Gina Middle Rider. Sisters: Geraldine Two Two Fisher, Delores Two Two, and Amanda Dillard all of Ashland, Donna (George) Paul of Washington, Mervin (Judy) Two Two of California, and Vincent Two Two of Colstrip. Emil had twenty nine grandchildren and forty three great grandchildren.
He leaves behind three aunts Nellie Speelman, Amy and Inez Foote of Ashland, nephew Albert Foote of Poplar, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Extended families include: Harris, Foote, Littlewhiteman, Whitedirt, Big Shoulderblade, Elkshoulder, Big Head Man, The Lakota Nation; Two Two, Means, Black Weasel, Graham, One Feather, Red Star, Short horn and Climbing Bear, We apologize if we have forgotten any of our relations for we are a very large family.
