Em was born on July 3, 1931, in Havre, Montana, to Curt and Mary (Murphy) Phillips. She attended Northern and Eastern Montana Colleges and worked at Buttreys in Havre and Powers & Von Ragsdale in Lewistown.
On March 31, 1951, she married John Ridgeway in her hometown of Rudyard, Montana. Em enjoyed family gatherings, grandchildren, school & sporting events, reading and card playing. She was a long-time member of the Republican Party.
She and John farmed and ranched outside of Windham, Montana, for many years. When John´s health failed, she moved to Miles City to live with her daughter. At the time of her death, she was living at TLC, an assisted living center in Miles City. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring owners and staff at TLC, including Barb and Roger Melchoir and all the wonderful ladies there who took such good and loving care of our mother.
Preceding Em in death were her husband, John, and her daughter, Susan. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Ridgeway (Gary Day), Miles City, MT; her two sons, Randal Ridgeway (Dawn) and Michael Ridgeway, both of Stanford, MT; seven grandchildren Robert Ridgeway, Austin, Texas, Blake Ridgeway, Chicago, Illinois, Ashley Ernst Maart (Joel), Duluth, Minnesota, Brandon Ernst, Missoula, Montana, Cole Mickelson, Missoula, Montana, Lucas Ridgeway, Missoula, Montana and Lander Ridgeway, Stanford, Montana; two great-grandchildren, Titus and Nicholas Maart, Duluth, Minnesota; her sister, Irene Potter, Carmichael, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I am sorry to learn of your family sorrow. The death of a loved one is difficult. If I may, I’d like to share scripture that may help. Please take a moment to read John 6:40, 44 and Ps. 36:9.
