Ernest Clifford Peterson, age 90, of Miles City passed away on Friday, December 02, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Ernest was born in Elgin, Nebraska on October 9, 1915, the son of Carl and Tina (Lundgren) Peterson. He moved to Edgar, Montana with his parents in 1916 where his folks homesteaded. He attended schools in Edgar then later moved to Shepherd, Montana. Ernest enlisted in the United States Army on November 15, 1942 and served until February 1, 1946 when he was honorably discharged. While in the serve he served in the European Theatre for 18 months and in the Korean Conflict for one year. Ernest married Leah Miller in Billings, Montana on June 28th, 1947. He worked for Custom Tire Company in Billings until 1948, when they moved to Miles City. He then worked for Railway Express, Murphys Produce and Gamble Robinson for twenty six years. Ernest was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1579.
Ernest is survived by a brother, Frank Peterson of Billings, MT; a sister, Ida Brush of Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Leah.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors provided by VFW Post #1579.
