Ervin "Al" Allmer, 76, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the VA Assisted Living Community.
The son of Emaunel Allmer and Freida (Schlichenmayer) Samuel, Ervin was born in Dodge, N.D. Aug. 26, 1933. Raised and educated in Montana, Ervin served with the US Navy from 1950 to 1954, receiving a National Defense Service Medal and serving in the Korean War on the USS Triumph and the USS Hanson. He was a strong man who stoodbehind what he believed in and never backed down. Full of good spirit, you could always count on Ervin for a light-hearted prank and a good laugh. He enjoyed socializing, playing cards, and in his later years, playing bingo with his friends at the VA. Ervin is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Fred Allmer.
He is survived by three sisters, Delores (Allmer) Allen of Billings, Arlene (Allmer) Maust of Fredricksburg VA,LaVerne (Allmer) Romero of Cathedral City CA; his children Marlon Allmer, Gregory Allmer, and Shawn (Allmer) Markus, all of Idaho; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the staff and frends at the VA Assisted Living Community. He also leaves behind to honor his memory his best friend and roommate at the VA, Don LaCross and the lights of his life, granddaughter and great-granddaughter Michelle and Katelin Standley, of
Billings. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at the VA Hospital. Interment will be held at a later date. Flowers or memorials may be sent to the VA Assisted LivingCenter in Miles City, 210 South Winchester, Miles City, MT59301

It’s been super rough these past several years I was super depressed for a month after month beyond measure when I found out that you were gone, to even think that nobody bother telling me that you had passed away nor did they bother telling me where your funeral was, nor did I get to say goodbye to you, you were an amazing person, no matter what everybody thought of you You made me a very happy great grandchild and you have no idea how much I will miss you rest in peace great grandpa.
