Ervin Daniel Schilling, age 92, of Terry passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Prairie Community Hospital in Terry.
Ervin Daniel Schilling was born July 3, 1923 in rural Fallon, Montana. He was the second son born to John and Christina Schilling. Growing up he attended the Jones Rural School and graduated from Mildred High School in 1942. On June 17, 1950, Ervin married the love of his life, Patricia Joan Cadieux, a schoolteacher from Jamestown, ND with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. Ervin spent his entire life in Prairie County where he was known as a hard working farmer and rancher. He had two short stints as an oil field worker and on the railroad. He held a seat on the school board for 10 years in Fallon. Following all that hard work, retirement found Ervin and Pat enjoying their motor home each winter in Arizona and California for roughly 13 years. His sense of humor and ability to talk to anyone, led them to make friends wherever they parked, preferably on the desert near Quartzite or Yuma, Arizona.
An avid baseball fan, he was determined to never miss an Atlanta Braves baseball game even if it meant watching part of the game through the inside of his eyelids. Ervin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was always up for a game of pinochle anytime there were four Schillings at a table. He and his humor will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; children, Jean (Kent) Brubaker of Missoula, Jane Schilling of Terry, Joan Pisk of Glendive, Jerome (Julie) Schilling of Shepherd; six grandchildren, Justine (Carl) Laumeyer of Nashua, Amber Murr of Terry, Dane (Jenny) Brubaker of Anchorage, AK, Fabian (Cari) Pisk of Billings, Jimmy (Lynn) Schilling of Terry, and Jaimi (Scott) Murray of Billings; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Irene Martinson of Terry, Gertrude Sullivan of Helena & Shirley (Chuck) Mohr of Billings as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gottlieb, Andy, and baby sister Katherine.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.
