Esther Kalmback Anderson, age 87, of Glendive, MT, went to her heavenly home November 18, 2018, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Esther was born on July 19, 1931, in Olanda, MT, to Art and Katie (Raab) Morast. She was the fourth child with siblings Melvin, Robert, Leona, Tillie, Lloyd, and Jerry. Esther grew up north of Terry attending country school through the eighth grade. She attended Terry High School for one year. Esther and her sister, Leona, roomed together in Terry waitressing at Young’s Café. She met John Kalmback at a local dance. They were married at the E.U.B. Church in Fallon on May 15, 1949. The couple made their home in Fallon where they farmed and ranched. They had two children, Gary (Cathy) of Fallon and Betty Lou (Ed) Miller of Glendive.
John passed away November 11, 1977. Esther moved to Glendive and worked as a waitress at the Jordan Café, Blue Room, and Twilite. She also worked at Fashion Island.

Esther’s passion was being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate house and always decorated for the holidays. One of her many hobbies included raising a bountiful garden for canning and pickling produce. Esther was an excellent cook best known for her German kuchen.
Esther instilled a strong work ethic in her children, and education was very important to her. She was a proud Grandma attending each grandchild’s college graduation. The highlight of her day was a visit from family and friends or spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty Lou, Gary And Family,
My condolences for the loss of your mom. I have many memories Great Aunt Esther, and the extended family events we shared in Glendive. I remember seeing a scorpion in her backyard with cousins when I was a kid. Oh how we all ran into the house after that- we knew for sure it was going to sting and poison us. I believe that she is at peace and enjoying happy reunions with her siblings, husbands, parents and friends in Heaven. Love and light sent to you all.

Domonique Williams says
I’m very sorry for your loss. In the book of Isaiah 33:24 it says “And no resident will say: “I am sick…” What comforting words. Although we may experience illness right now, soon Jehovah God will bring about a time when sickness will be a distant memory. God promises a new world were he will resurrect those who have fallen asleep in death, to their “youthful vigor.” (Job 33:25). May these scriptures bring you and your family comfort.
