Esther Chavez, age 79, of Miles City formerly of Forsyth and Hysham passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Care Center in Miles City.
Esther was born in Decatur, Texas on February 15, 1925, the daughter of Max and Florence (DeLeon)Soria. As a young child Ester moved with her family to the Sanders/Hysham area. She attended school in Hysham. Following her schooling, she was united in marriage to Samuel Chavez in Miles City. Together they made their home in Hysham and the Sanders area and later moved to Forsyth. Sam and Esther had two children. She worked at the Rosebud Heath Care Center for several years. Following her retirement, Esther remained in Forsyth until moving to Miles City where she resided until the time of her death. Esther enjoyed playing Bingo, shopping at Wal-Mart, cooking, but most of all visiting with friends and family. She was an easy going person who always had a smile on her face.
Esther is survived by a son, Timothy Chavez; a daughter, Veronica Wetsch and her husband Donnie of Hardin, MT; a brother, Manuel Soria and his wife Martha of Miles City, MT; four sisters: Emily Eastin and her husband Russ of Colstrip, MT; Deloris Diegel and her husband Delmor of Wishek, ND;Corrie Worm of Miles City, MT; and MaxineEklund and her husband George of Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Ronnie Mae Mack and her husband Allen of Hysham, MT; four great grandchildren: Christopher Mack, Samantha Mack, Michael Mack, and Veronica Mack all of Hysham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Roy Soria and Santiago Soria; and her cousin and best friend Margaret Piseno.
Funeral mass will be on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11:30 AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forsyth. Burial will be in the family lot in the Forsyth Cemetery. A Rosary will be on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 7:30 PM in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, June 18, 2004 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice
