In Memory Of

Esther LaRance, age 55, of Lame Deer

April 25, 1969 – September 13, 2024

The sun has set, and along with it our Mother, Grandmother, aunt made her journey to be with our loved ones who went on before us. Esther Faith LaRance “Anovaoo’o”, ”a girl beautiful” was born to the Late Christopher LaRance and Martha LaRance on April 25, 1969. At Crow Agency. She was raised along with her siblings in the Lame Deer area.
During her younger years she attended Lame Deer, later graduating with the class of 1987 from St. Labre. She also attended CDKC for clerical work. She worked for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe in different departments. Esther played basketball during Highschool. She enjoyed playing volleyball during our big family gatherings at Auntie Theresa’s along with her favorite cousins Cleve, the late Albert McManus and her big sisters Myrna Rochelle, Zethal woodenlegs and Addie Baker. Esther was a traveling spirit, living in Washington, Butte MT, and Arizona. Always making friends along the way. She cherished these times often speaking of the ol’ days. Esther and her sisters enjoyed playing softball. During her time playing softball she gained many lifelong friends along the way, making many memories along the way. Traveling all over the state to different softball tourneys.
She was blessed with 3 children, whom she adored and supported tirelessly. Her children meant the world to her. She loved watching them grow and participate in their school events. She loved following her family to Basketball games. You could hear signature whistle from the stands cheering on her family. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the life and breath she breathed. She played a big part in helping raise and caring for her grandchildren. Spending time with them any chance she could get. For those who had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know our beloved Esther would tell you how comical she was and how she was the life of the party. Never a dull moment or silent room when she was present. Her caring and nonjudgmental spirit always made you feel welcomed and appreciated. She was a great listener, the loudest cheerleader, and always ready to help or give a hug. Throughout her life she always had a strong connection with our Lord and Savior. She was a member of the Pentecostal church of Lame Deer.
Esther is survived by her 3 Children Halle (antone) Standingelk Diandra StandingElk, Paxton LaRance. Sisters Rachel, Tia LaRance, Addie Baker, Myrna Rochelle, evangaline (Gilbert) Solis, Lucy Gardner. Brothers Kash LaRance, Cleve Mcmanus. Esther….cannot believe you are gone. You enriched my life in the way no one else could growing up as we were best buddies who took care of our pig farm in high school (inside joke). It never mattered the time or distance we just understood each other and always laughed like time never passed. Although you struggled in this life you left blessings (your kids and grandkids). They will carry a part of you with them and when I see them I will see you. I Love you sis. Not saying goodbye but I will say see ya later. Heaven gained a beautiful Cheyenne woman.

Bubble Eyes Thank you for the last hug I gave you. I told you I Loved you because I helped take care of you while the others went to Forsyth for the summer with Geh’eh and Meh’meh. My heart broke when I seen you had Crossed Over to the Other Camp. I’m sorry I couldn’t join the Family in seeing you off. I am not allowed to Travel the long distance home but I Prayed for Our Family. The pain you had is no longer there but now you can Rejoice with Everyone who already went Home. You used to call me “Mama Vangie”. Have fun on the Milky Way. Prayers for your Children and Grandchildren. Love you Vangie, Gilbert, Brittany, Crystal, McKynzii and Kennedy Solis.
