Eugene (Gene) Edward Young, 83, died in the early morning hours Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Alzada, Montana. The Lord peacefully called his World War II Vet home to back in the comfort of his tender loving arms.

Gene was born in Terry, Montana on April 13, 1925 to Paul and Nellie Young, their 4th child out of 5. The family ranched out by Locate, Mt raising Black Angus cattle along with a great deal of horses. He married Georgia Burt in 1948 with this marriage they had one child, a daughter named Jeffree Jean. After their divorce he never married again. He married a Peterbuilt Truck with a flat bed trailer which took him all over the United States. His passion was finding the best deals of cars, trucks, anything he could haul to where ever home base was at the time. He always liked a dry camp with no running water, electricity, you name it, a simple life, he truly did enjoy.

In July of 1943, Gene was enlisted into the Army that brought him into World War 11, which he fought in the Burma Campaign. In 35 battles against the Japanese army, Merrills Marauders gained a reputation for bravery but suffered terrible losses---2,394 casualties out of an original 2,830 men. Along with six other Ranger Battalions, they are the only World War II-era United States Army Rangers. Gene was one of those men that came home that carried this in his heart.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nellie, brother, Chet, niece, Gloria.

Surviving relatives include his daughter and son-in-law, Jeffree Jean and Ken Robuck of Whitehall, Mt. grandsons, Chad (Danielle) Dolan of Broadview, Josh Dolan of Butte, Aron Dolan of Billings, great grandchildren, Lorna Rae, Liam, Trace, Star, Kael, Sadie, Bow, Tye, Taylen, Tristen Dolan, brothers, Glen (Vicki) of Miles City, Al (Viola) of Miles City, sister Lila (Dan) Hewitt of Tacoma, Washington and many nieces & nephews.
