On July 6, 2004 God came and took Eugene Karel Kirchner (age 74) to a life of eternity.
Eugene was born the son of Eugene and Matilda (Schillinger) Kirchner in Wolf Point, MT on May 18th, 1930. He graduated from Circle High School and attended Montana State University for one year before coming back to Circle to take over the farm when his fathers health started to fail.Gene met a Southern Belle and the love of his life, in the summer of 1955 at Brockway Dairy Days dance. He married Barbara Ann Meleton on February 26, 1957 in Shreveport, LA.
Gene's family meant the world to him and he treasured his time with his children and grandchildren. His favorite time of all was when he had all his children at home. Gene loved to work with his hands. He was an excellent carpenter and mechanic. He could find a way to bring out the beauty within, through his love of restoring things antique such as: cars, phone's, and furniture. This ability wasn't limited to just material things. He brought out the best in people through his kindness and support. He took great pride in his farm and ranching operation, providing for the family through his hard work and dedication. Charlie, his faithful dog and companion, would always be by his side; either riding in the truck or sitting and watching contentedly as he worked on one of his many projects.
Away from the farm, Gene served the community by serving as a 4-H leader, participating on the Elevator Board and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America and the Montana Model T Club.
Gene is survived by Barbara, his wife of 47 years; three daughters, Jeanne Heilig of Dickinson, ND; Katherine Kirchner (Phil Soli) of Billings, MT; Rita Kirchner of Denver, CO; two sons, Clint (Shawn) Kirchner and Kenneth (Regan) Kirchner, both of Circle, MT; six Grandchildren Natasha (Rick) Hogan, Michael (Chereen) Heilig, Barbara Gene Heilig, Savannah Kirchner, Shannell Kirchner, and Joel Kirchner; three great grandchildren, Katelyn and Rylan Hogan, Mikayla Heilig; and his faithful canine companion, Charlie.
