In Memory Of

Eugenia “Jeanie” M. Demaniow, 75, Colstrip

November 4, 1936 – September 26, 2012

Eugenia Marie (Jeanie) Demaniow

Mom to many, Gramma Jeanie to many, as well Gramma J was born on November 4, 1936.  Raised on the farm in Dickinson ND. The eldest of 10 she helped in so many ways to care for her brothers and sister after their parents were killed in a tragic car accident.

She was married to Larry on January 23, 1956

She had very many special nieces and nephews

She was always the one to call no matter what the hour just to listen and give a little advice.  She loved her magazines to read and endless crossword puzzles, what I called obsessed with Publishers Clearing House she always hoped the prize team would show up.  She showed love by feeding everyone with all the delicious food and always more than enough.

She worked hard all her life for many employers waiting tables and being the best cook.  Most famous for her prime rib, ham and bean soup, chicken and dumplings, and borscht and fry bread.

If you were lucky enough to get the recipes they are priceless.  She had the candy jar for the grandkids and her stash of Almond Roca, the “good” chocolate and Nutty Royals, you would have on if you worked for it.  We never liked to hear our middle names spoken and if you did she meant it.

She collected hummingbirds, and angels.  She loved flowers of any kind and had her roses for the Virgin Mother Mary.

She told us we all have guardian angels and God never gives you more than you can handle for it makes you stronger for things to come.

She prayed for all and said the Rosary with the church ladies and enjoyed Red Hat luncheons.

While listening to her many CD’s on her Bose stereo (which she deserved) saying her night prayers in the dark at her kitchen table.  So many hard times that turned into happy memories now.

This last year I was so blessed to hear her stories of her youth, how she met Dad while roller skating his dark hair and beautiful blue eyes.  She talked about the dances they would all drive to and explore the Badlands in ND picking berries.

Jeanie and Larry’s children 1 of 9 Laura Demaniow of MN, 2 of 9 Lee Demaniow, 3 of 9 Dean (Angela) Demaniow of CO, 4 of 9 Mark Demaniow of SC, 5 of 9 Lisa Demaniow of Colstrip MT, 6 of 9 Janine Perry of MN, 7 of 9 Lawretta (Dana) Miller of Colstrip MT, 8 of 9 Marian Demaniow of Billings MT, and last but not least 9 of 9 James (Tara) Demaniow of Billings MT.

Grandma Jeanie had 15 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren

Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Lawrence (Larry), by parents Frank and Anna (Roshau) Scheeler, Larry’s parents William and Annie (Pediliski).  Sister-in-law Rosie Demaniow, brother Clifford Scheeler, brother-in-law Eddie Scheeler, brother-in-law Cal Froelich, and eldest son Lee Demaniow.

A Vigil service will be held October 2, 2012 at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Colstrip.  A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday October 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be next to her husband in the Colstrip Cemetery.

She will be sorely missed by all that knew her, never forgotten, always with us, no longer so tired and in so much pain.  Much Love Mom, there to tuck you in Lisa.

The family has entrusted the services to Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth, MT. Condolences may be left online by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.

Hey mom…..I ma so happy you are in a better place in your life and so sad I won’t have you on earth anymore. I am so happy we talked the night the angels took you. I am going to miss so many things about you. Holidays where you delegate from your chair, your heavenly rice, turkey stuffing, and watching you whiz right through any crossword puzzles. I will miss sitting at the table with you, neither of us taking just reading the Woman World. That was comforting. I envision dad greeted you with a big hug and a spin. I’m sure you two are still holding hands. And Lee just sitting back in charge of heaven, or so he thinks. Make sure they get you your Nick at Night TV station and a fresh drink with lots of ice while you watch the evening KTVQ news. And tell thme to leave the butter knife in the freezer.
Dont worry about your salt restriction. Eat those peanuts and Lays Kettle chips. Cheers are
to you this weekend. Thanks for supplying the beer. I know you will be there. And by all means…..NUTTY ROYALES FOR EVERYONE! xo #8 of 9.

Sending my condolences to the Demaniow family. Remembering your mother with gracious ways and your father too. Enjoyed the time I spent with them both at the long term care center in Forsyth.

My sympathy to Jeanie’s family. I am one of her first cousins (her Mom, Ann and my Mom, Aggie were sisters). The first and only time I met Jeanie was at the Roshau Family Reunion in Killdeer. Know that my thoughts will be with your family as you go thru this hard time.

Our sympathy to Jeanie’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. George is a first cousin to Jeanie. Her Mom and his Dad, Frank were sister and brother. I remember Jeanie very well in North Dakota as children and regret her passing.

We feel blessed to have known your Mom from being a part of St. Margaret Mary Parish. Jeannie was a prayerful lady and we will miss her presence. May your family be blessed with comfort and peace.

So very sorry for your loss. We always had fun with the Scheeler kids when we would go to the farm in New Hradec. “the good ole days”. She looks just like Aunt Ann. Lately I have been reminicsing in my mind about all the good times with cousins & Aunts & Uncles when I was young, living in North Dakota. Guess that means we are getting old.
I do send my Sympathies to the entire family, and know she will be missed terribly. May God grant you all his comfort & love. Jeanies’ cousin, Amy Roshau Woodward.

Add your thoughts and memories. Upon approval they will be added.
