Evangeline Mary “Eve” LeVeque, 97, of Sonnette, Montana passed away February 22, 2020 at Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana.
Eve was born October 6, 1922 south of Sonnette, Montana on Pumpkin Creek. She was the only child of Pierre “Pete” and Mary Pzinski LeVeque. She was educated in country schools and graduated from Broadus High School. She obtained both a B.S. and a M.S. from the University of Montana and began a career in Miles City, Montana.
In 1950, she joined her parents on the ranch at Sonnette, Montana. There she found her passion, the cattle, the grasses, all things ranching. She was committed to the ranch, ever at her dad’s side. The LeVeque Ranch grew and prospered through tough times and was known throughout eastern Montana for fine cattle, beautiful wheat, amazing alfalfa hay and seed crops, and excellent quality rangeland. She shared her dad’s pride for and love of the land.
Eve was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She was a devoted Catholic, well studied in the faith. She cherished her family on both the LeVeque and Pzinski sides and friends in the Sonnette community and across the country. She was very interested in researching family genealogy. She loved photography and painted. She was fiercely independent. Nothing made her happier than being on the ranch, enjoying the cattle, the hay, the beauty no matter the season.
In recent years, she resided at the Powder River Manor in Broadus. She enjoyed the caregivers and excellent care, always pleasant and grateful to live there. She especially enjoyed exercise, the creative hairstyles the girls created for her, getting her nails done and weekly rosaries with fellow Catholics. She rarely if ever had a bad day.
She was a member of St. David’s Catholic Church, Montana Cowbelles and active in the Sonnette Community Hall.
Eve was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mary Pzinski LeVeque as well as numerous cousins. She is survived by one godchild, Logan Elizabeth Pluhar and many cousins.

I remember hearing how much my Grandpa Glenn Burgess loved going up to the ranch to see Eve when he was a teen. Hope to make the mass. Thank you Eve for your legacy of kindness.

Our family knew Eve for many years. My dad’s childhood home was in the Sonnette area; he spoke highly of the LeVeques, and for good reason. Eve was a sweet, wonderful lady and will be missed in our community.

Eve was a special lady, who I didn’t know very well until my parents were in the Manor. Always a kind word and Good Morning. I knew her parents and enjoyed visiting with them whenever they came to town when I was growing up. A great family..

A very special lady. I remember her teaching in the P.R. High School in the late 1950s. Her devotion to her faith and her parents was special to see. May she Rest In Peace.
