Evelyn "Johnnie" Aldrich, age 74, of Terry, MT passed away at on October 17, 2004 in Billings, MT at the Horizon Hospice House. Mom taught us during the last year to make everyday count, you see life as a gift, and everyday becomes precious and thats a lesson you never forget. She fought the good fight with endurance, courage, and love; she gave the greatest gift, herself.

Evelyn was born on April 18, 1930 in Muskegon, Michigan the daughter of Harold Vanderstelt and Jesse Duell. She attended schools in Michigan. She met Henry Aldrich and they were married on January 21, 1948 in Muskegon, Michigan. Together they traveled in German, Holland, Spain, and Switzerland during Henrys four tours in the service. They traveled across the Atlantic Ocean seven times on an ocean liner from Germany to New Your City, with Bill and Sandy aboard. Then Evelyn and Henry lived in Virginia and San Antoio Texas. Henry retired from the service in 1964, and they moved to Glendive, Montana. In 1973, they moved to Fallon and in 1990 into Terry where she has resided since.

Evelyn enjoyed traveling, playing scrabble, sewing, quilting, and watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball. She enjoyed coming to the ranch in the spring to see the baby calves and fishing. Evelyn was a member of the Prairie Counsel of Aging, active in the Church of Christ and was a member of the Homemakers Club for 20 years in Fallon. All of her grandchildren were the love of her life, she especially enjoyed watching her grandsons, Dustin and Kyle, play football, basketball and baseball and had a special bond with her granddaughter Candice Mort and her husband Judd and her grandson Tom Aldrich.

Evelyn is survived by her five children and their family: Sandy (Alan) and their children Dustin and Kyle Mathiason of Mildred, MT, Bill (Nhi) and their children Jamison, Geniveve, Jeffery and Jacqueline of Seattle, WA, Scott (Joyce) and their children Spencer, and Tara Aldrich of Fallon, MT, Crystal (Marty) Goosey and their children Candice, Kevin, Brittney and Andrew of Helena, MT and Donna Aldrich and her daughter Heather of East Helena, MT. She is also survived by her brother Jerry (Dawn) and their children Doug and David Vanderstelt, a sister Toni (Joe) Pirrotta and their children, Jeff, Chris and Michelle and Margo Aldrich of Billings, MT and her son Tom. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry in 1993 and by one brother, Jim and three sisters: Mabel, Barb, and Helen.
