Evelyn Hardy, age 86, of Miles City, MT passed away on December 27, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City, MT.
Evelyn was born on December 7, 1919, the daughter of Murray and Emma (Loehding) Trout on the family homestead near Ekalaka. She attended country schools in Fallon and Carter County. Evelyn went to Carter County High School in Ekalaka. When she was 17, she met Bud Hardy and they were married in June of 1937 in Baker. In 1938, they had their first daughter; Janet. The family lived on the Hardy homestead in Carter County until 1945. She and her husband worked on various ranches until moving to Miles City in 1949. In 1952, their second daughter, Kathy was born. Evelyn worked for various downtown businesses in Miles City until 1970. After her husband passed away, Evelyn moved to Livingston in 1970 to be closer to her daughters. She was delighted to be able to help her daughters as they attended nursing school in Bozeman, MT. Evelyn worked at the Livingston Convalescent Center for ten years. Evelyn loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She had a green thumb which was evident each summer, when she would be working out in her flower beds and vegetable gardens.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter; Kathy (Bootsie) Felton and her husband Maurice of Miles City, two grandchildren; Lynn Hanson Haerr and her husband Jerry, of Livingston and Bill Felton of Bozeman, MT, two great-grandchildren; Jimmy Haerr and Jessica Haerr of Livingston, MT, a niece; Gloria Hardy of Billings, MT and nephew Bill Hardy of Billings, MT and many nieces and nephews that are out of state.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 29 years, Bud, her daughter Janet Hardy Hanson, one sister and three brothers.As requested, a private family service will be held at a later date.
If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
