Evelyn Marie (Lehner) Hinther, age 80 of Jordan, Montana, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Evelyn was born on February 19, 1924 in Jordan, Montana, the daughter of Max and Mary (Mull) Lehner. She was raised in Jordan where she attended country schools and graduated from Garfield County High School as valedictorian in 1940. Evelyn married Karl Hinther on November 11, 1942 in Miles City, Montana. The couple made their home in Jordan where they raised three children. She worked at the Garfield County Hospital as a bookkeeper for several years after her family was grown. Evelyn also kept books for their service station, bus services and marina enterprises.
Evelyn was a life-time member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Jordan where she served as president of the W.E.L.C.A. for many years. She enjoyed traveling and fishing with Karl and her family, doing the finishing work on Karls woodworking projects, and also sewing; making many of her childrens clothing as they were growing up. But most of all, Evelyn loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Karl Hinther of Jordan, MT, two daughters, Anita and her husband Joe Twitchell of Mountain Home, ID, Noreen and her husband Mike McKeever of Jordan, MT, her son Ron Hinther and his wife Denise of Circle, MT, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Joel Twitchell and his children Bailey and Riley all of Ely, NV, Aaron Twitchell of Austin, TX, Etoile and her husband Clint Benge of Hailey, ID, Todd McKeever and his wife Annie and their daughter Ava, all of Laurel, MT, Angela Belus and her children Mitchell and Abby all of Jordan, MT, Jason McKeever of Fargo, ND, Courtney Hinther and her daughter Kayla of Bakersfield, CA, and Cara and her husband Robert Vannattan of Bridger, MT, a brother Ervin Lehner of Jordan, MT, two sisters, Maxine Sickles of Jordan, MT and Clara Brown of Shelby, MT and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Robert.
Private family prayer services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. at the St. Johns Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the V.F.W. Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Pioneer Cemetery.
