Evelyn L. Undem

Visitation: Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.

Prayer Service: Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.

Funeral Service: December 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Glendive.

Interment: Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive

Evelyn L. Undem, age 94, of Terry formerly of Glendive passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Prairie County Nursing Home in Terry.

Evelyn was born in Glendive, Montana on November 12, 1909, the daughter of Adolphus and Margaret (Frankenberg) Kent where she was raised in a log cabin home. She attended Stipik and the Upper Seven Miles Country Schools, before graduating from Dawson County High School. Following high school, she attended Eastern Montana Normal School in Billings, which is now MSU-B. She then returned to Eastern Montana where she began teaching. Evelyn married Michael Undem on March 17, 1933 in Glendive, Montana. Following their marriage, they lived on Lower Three Mile Creek north of Glendive until 1940 when they moved to Deer Creek where they ranched and made their home until 1993 when they moved to Terry to be near their family.
Evelyn loved to quilt and bake, and for years she entered her cooking in the county fair. Even while Evelyn was in the Nursing Home, she made sure that her friends and family always had coffee and cookies. Evelyn was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the Glendive Hospital Auxiliary. Through the years, Evelyn donated over 11 gallons of blood to help others.

Evelyn is survived by a son, Obert Undem and his wife Virginia of Billings, MT; a daughter, Karen Hinneland and her husband Todd of Terry, MT; two brothers: Willard Kent and his wife Ida May of Glendive, MT and George Kent of Glendive, MT; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a one great great grandchild, and a special friend, Alice Gothard of Terry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael in 1995, and three sisters: Jessica Molenda, Hazel Reinart, and Maude Jimison, and a brother at infancy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. A Prayer service will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Glendive. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Terry Library.
