Evelyn Ann Lee, age 90, of Terry passed away on Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Prairie County Health Care in Terry.
Evelyn was born on October 20, 1916, south of Terry on the family ranch, the daughter of John and Maude (Schwager) Sweet. She weighed approximately three pounds at birth and was kept warm in a shoe box on the oven door. Maude passed away shortly after Evelyn was born and she was then adopted by Peter and Ursa Brandenthaler. She attended 10 Mile School until moving to Terry where she graduated from high school in 1935. Evelyn married Bert Lee in Terry, Montana on June 8, 1935.
They lived in New York and Minneapolis for a short time before returning to Terry. In 1943, they started Terrys indoor theater which they ran until the 1980s. In 1951, they built the Terry Drive-In, which they owned and operated for over 40 years.
Evelyn enjoyed watching her husband bowl, traveling with him for many years to various bowling tournaments. She also enjoyed music and listening to Bert play the piano. She loved her family, her grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry for several years and served as an Elder and Trustee at the church.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 72 years, Bert Lee of Terry, MT; a son, Donald Lee and his wife Dorcas of Terry, MT; a daughter Joan Grammer and her husband Richard of Carbondale, IL; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her birth and adoptive parents, seven brothers: Basil, Alfred, Grabiel, Shan, Don, Wayne and Tooke; two sisters: Ethel Coughlin and a sister at infancy; and a grandson, Derrik Lee.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.
