Evelyn Louise Withington Convery, age 88, of Terry, Montana passed away peacefully surrounded by love, prayer and song, on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at her home in Terry.
Evelyn was born on June 9, 1927 in Spring Lake, New Jersey, the daughter of Evelyn (Grauer) and Richard Withington Sr. She grew up in New Jersey where she graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School. She loved the Jersey shore, cherished her parents, and loved to dance and sing to her favorite songs from the 1940’s and 50’s. After high school, Evelyn studied art in New York City while living at the Barbizon Hotel for Women before returning to Point Pleasant where she worked as an automotive bookkeeper until she married John R. Convery (Bob) on November 25, 1959.Evelyn and Bob lived in Brick, New Jersey for nearly 30 years while they raised their four children. In 1993 Evelyn and Bob moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to be closer to their daughter. They lived in Charlottesville for nearly ten years until moving to Polson, Montana. From Polson, they moved to Billings, and made their final home in Terry, where Evelyn was cared for in her home until the time of her death.
Evelyn was a kind, generous and courageous woman who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed the simple things in life, including dancing, music, theatre, thrift store shopping, making floral arrangements, and her beloved pets. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children. She had a million dollar smile that lit up the room and made everyone around her laugh. She was always appreciative of those who cared for her, and was a wonderful mother and wife. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
Evelyn is survived by her husband John R. Convery of Terry, MT; her daughter Rebecca A. Convery and her partner, Lisa Henry, of Helena, MT; three sons: Robert W. Convery and his wife Donna, of Burleson, TX; John M. Convery and his wife Arlene, of Wellington, FL; and Patrick W. Convery and his husband Nicholas Tartaglia Jr., of Bloomfield, NJ; a sister, Virginia C. Withington of Billings, MT; seven grandchildren: Kevin, Kelly, Michael and Jonah Convery; Kathryn White, Heather Soden and Kristen Kelley. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Withington Jr.
