Evelyn L. Welch, age 94, of Hysham, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Rosebud Healthcare Center in Forsyth following a bout with pneumonia.

Evelyn was born on October 8, 1911 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William and Mary Strong Watson. Her family moved to Montana to homestead when she was very young. She attended schools in the Hysham area. She married Ira Welch on April 29, 1932. They had three sons, Forrest, Leonard, and John. Evelyn was a homemaker she really enjoyed caring for her family. She worked with her husband on the farm doing everything from hoeing beets to milking cows.She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening and visiting.

Survivors include her son, John Welch of Hysham, daughter-in-law, Lenore Welch of Hysham, grandchildren, Lynn (Ron) Thomsen of Reno NV, Ed Welch of Reno NV, Joan Larsen of Billings, Marj (Leo) Cunningham of Hysham, John (Amy) Welch of Billings and Richard (Melissa) Welch of Hysham, ten great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ann Kuntz of Forsyth and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1978, two sons, Forrest in 1991 and Leonard in 1977 and her brothers and sisters.
