In Memory Of

F. Bunk Huckins

Visitation: Friday, December 14, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus with Masonic Rites.

Interment: Private family interment will be held at a later date.

F.F. Bunk Huckins, age 95, of Broadus passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Health Care Center in Miles City.

Bunk was born at Pinto, Montana on January 16, 1912, the son of Charles F. and Leonora (Henning) Huckins. He attendedHuckins Country School on Bay Horse Creek and went to Custer County High School, returning back to the family ranch. During the 1930s, he sheared sheep in Montana and California until the ranch was able to keep him home and he remained on the ranch his entire life until 2004 when his health forced him to move into Miles City for health care. He marriedFloreine Linville on November 26, 1943 in Miles City, Montana.

Bunk was a member of the Powder River Lodge #135 A.F. & A.M., lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Margaret Trautman Chapter of the O.E.S. He was a Powder River Commissioner from 1950 to 1956 and again from 1980-1986. He was also a member of the Powder River County Republican Committee, Board of Henry Malley Memorial Library, and was on the Board of Trustees for the rural school district. Bunk loved taking care of his livestock and seeing the green grass. He loved toplaying challenging card games like 500 or pinochle, spending time with his family, and was an avid reader.

Bunk is survived by three sons: Gary (Karen) Huckins of Miles City, MT; Phillip (Jane) Huckins of Sheridan, WY; and Floyd Huckins of Broadus, MT; a daughter, Connie (Steve) Welsh of Helena, MT; a sister-in-law, Willa Huckins of Dayton, MT; two granddaughters: Earline Huckins of Spokane, WA and Shanna Huckins of Glasgow, MT; two grandsons: David (Jodi) Huckins of Cheney, WA and Lyle Huckins of Billings, MT; and three great grandchildren: Sierra, Logan and Riley Huckins of Cheney, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles FremontHuckins and Leonora Henning Huckins; his wife, Floreine in 2000; two sisters: Carrie Geer and Gladys Geer; four brothers: William (Dutch)Huckins, Charlie (Irish) Huckins, Clifford (Swede) Huckins and Lloyd (Cub) Huckins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus with masonic rites. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Henry Malley Library or the charity of one's choice.
