Our brother, father, uncle and grandpa Ferdinand (Mo’e’ha ste Veste) Magpie Flying, left us on November 29, 2016 to join his mother, father and brothers and sisters. He was 62 years old.
Ferdinand was born January 23, 1954, to Regina Long Roach Killsnight and James Francis Killsnight, Sr. His maternal grandparents were Nellie Ruth Round Stone and George Long Roach and paternal grandparents were Carrie Red Robe Killsnight and Willis Killsnight.
Mo’e’ha ste Veste grew up in Lame Deer and attended local schools through the 10th grade and later attained his GED. He entered into the Marine Corp. October 11, 1974 and served until his honorable discharge in 1976.
He married Sharon Wells of Browning, MT and to this union they were blessed with two sons: Shem and Ferdinand Killsnight, Jr., and he later adopted Jonathan and Liliah as his own.
He worked several jobs. Among these include: Tribal Custodian, St V’s housekeeping, manager of the Guadalupe Apartments, Dispatcher, and laborer for Colstrip as well as other seasonal jobs until he injured his back.
Ferdinand was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Christopher and Xavier; sisters: Gertrude and Drucella; niece Tonya; nephew Francis; a daughter; and granddaughter Nellie.
He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; brothers: Marcian (Connie), Tony (Betty), Clement and James; sisters Rosanne (Wayne) and Velecia Killsnight; daughter Lilah, sons Shem, Ferdinand Jr, Jonathan Wells, and Robert Corcoran.
A traditional wake will be held at 7 PM on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Lame Deer. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Monday December 5, 2016 at the Catholic Church. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Alison Bixby Memorial Gardens.
