(Florence) Jean Benjamin Harris, 55, of south Wolf Point, passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning, September 19, 2004 after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.

Jean was born November 12, 1948 at Shelby, MT to Clarence Benjamin and Florence Wood Benjamin. In her youth, she lived at Devon, MT, LaSalle, OR, and then spent most of her school years in Fort Benton, MT. She attended Montana State University where she met her husband, Larry. They were married on December 27, 1968 at her parents home in Fort Benton.

Larry was stationed in San Antonio, TX in the Army. While there, Jean was employed by Trinity University. After her husband's discharge from the Army, they moved to Butte, MT. In March of 1973, Larry and Jean moved to Wolf Point to take over the family farm. She spent her years on the farm helping as a farmwife and being a fulltime Mother to her four children. When her children were young, Jean was active in the PTA at Frontier School. In 1991 she worked in Wolf Point at The Free Trader and then she worked at the County Courthouse in the Health and Human Services Department as an Eligibility Specialist until 2000. Since then she enjoyed being at home with her husband on the farm.

Jean was a faithful Wife and Mother and her purpose was to provide a secure, stable and Godly home for her family. She had many hobbies, which included card making and stamping. She enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren.

Her mother, Florence Wood Benjamin, preceded Jean in death.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Harris of south Wolf Point; four children, Russell (Andrea) Harris of Round Rock, TX, Randy (Alison) Harris of Kalispell, Aleta (Rob) Krack of Grand Forks, ND, and Ryan (Jeannie) Harris of Albany, OR; four precious grandchildren; her father, Clarence Benjamin of Fort Benton; brothers, Richard (Dick) of Great Falls, Robert, Roger, and Darrell of rural Fort Benton, Dale of Moscow, Russia, Raymond of Citrus Heights, CA, and Gary of Fort Collins, CO; and one sister, Joanne Parsons of Lewistown, MT.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 24 from 6 to 9 pm at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 10 am at the Wolf Point High School Auditorium. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Wolf Point Cancer Self-Help Group in care of Jim Peterson, 409 5th Ave. North, Wolf Point, MT 59201.
