I first met the Dowlin family 48 years ago. They accepted me as one of their own from the very beginning. I referred to Buck as “Brother Buck.” I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt he would have my back no matter the situation. He loved to tease me at every opportunity he had to do that. When I would blush at something he said, his come back was, “Gee, Peg you know I love you.” Rest in peace Brother. I will always miss you. Thanks for the memories.

Oh Buck..you were one of those guys that becomes a legend in your community. I dont think you even realized the unique role you played on west armells creek. I have so many crazy memories of you saying and doing funny things and just being yourself. Your heart was big even though sometimes you struggled with how to show that. I’m sorry I didnt get to talk to you last Christmas but I still have the giant teddy bear you gave me. I’m so glad you can rest now. Love you and your family.

Well Buck…there are no words to express the sadness felt for your passing. But I am comforted that you went thru to the next world quietly and without great struggle. Life was hard, so I am praying for wide open green pastures on a fast horse for you. For in pyour own words, “there is nothing better than the smell of honest horse sweat.” You taught me a lot and allowed me to live a cowgirls dream, even for the short run. I’ll never forget your friendship which allowed me to love all your family. While up in the great divide, tell my Dad “hello” and yall can talk about loving my mama’s good cooking and her biscuits. Kiss the Downlin clan for me. You may be gone…but certainly never forgotten.

Buck changed so much after his last go around with his heart—yes, he had one—a huge one. Buck and I had a great visit the day before he left us to join the Lord and Wanda and Robin and the rest of his family. He had such a peace about him when he talked about his surgery he was to have. Yes, even in the time of Covid he gave me a hug and I felt the calm he had. I smile when I think of you Buck and we will visit again soon enough!!💝

There are so many firsts that you blessed our life with. You were there for Spenser when he shot his first antelope and deer. You became a 2nd grandpa to him. I know he was there to greet you in heaven. I enjoyed making pies for you and all the good visits wrote had. Spenser’s son Landyn always loved coming to see you and hearing all the stories about his dad. We will miss you.
