Forest L. Henry, age 89, of Jasper, Texas formerly of Belle Fourche, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004 in Jasper, Texas.
Forest was born in Lead, South Dakota on May 16, 1915, the son of Lee Forest and Leah (Crocker) Henry. He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Lead, South Dakota. Following his schooling, he owned and operated a crop spraying business in Albany, Oregon. It was there that he met Gladys Cridland, They were married in Vancouver, Washington on September 2, 1943. They then returned back to South Dakota where he worked as a heavy equipment operator his entire life, spending time working in Wyoming, Colorado and the past 40 years in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.
Forest is survived by his son, Bob Henry of Newton, TX; a brother, Calvin Bill Henry of Topock, AZ; two sisters: Corlena Hyson of Modesto, CA; and Arlene Messer of Modesto, CA; a brother-in-law, Clarence Cridland and his wife Mary of Miles City, MT; three sisters-in-law: Violet Smith of Sacramento, CA; Edith Brewer and her husband Bud of Forsyth, MT; and Margaret Stevens of Yuma, AZ; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys and a brother, Art.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Belle Fourche, SD. Interment will follow in the Pine Slope Cemetery.
