Forrest “Pat” Price, age 84, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at his home in Miles City surrounded by his family.
Forrest was born in Baker, Montana on June 25, 1928, the son of George and Eva (Welch) Price. He lived on the family homestead in Ekalaka, Montana before moving to Kinsey, Montana in 1942. He attended grade school at Kinsey and attended Custer County High School until he joined the United States Army in 1945. His first meal in the Army was Thanksgiving Day. After basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky he was shipped to Germany where he served during World War II, serving three years in Germany as a tank crewman as part of the Army of Occupation at the end of WWII. Forrest was honorably discharged in 1949 as a Staff Sergeant. Following his discharge, he worked in the Homestake gold mine in Lead, South Dakota, worked in the oilfields, and lambed for the Haughian Family.
Forrest married Jeannine (Klunder) Price in 1952, starting their life together at Kinsey, Montana where they leased a small farm in 1953. The next year they moved to the farm they later bought, eventually owning 5 Kinsey farms on which Pat and Jeannine and their children worked hard raising cattle, sheep and various crops. Pat was one of the best sheep men around. In 2005, they sold the farm and moved into Miles City.
Forrest is survived by two sons: Kenneth G. (Lynn) of Boise, ID, Rodney C. (Terri) of Miles City, MT, and a daughter, Patti Jo (Wes) Brewster of Monroe, OR; two sisters: Joan Berg of Livingston, MT, and Marcia (Mick) McFarland of Miles City, MT; four brothers: George (Deloris) of Proctor, MT; Tom (Sharon) of Billings, MT; Harry (Gail) of Miles City, MT and Mike (Carol) of Kinsey, MT; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel C. Price and a grandson Daniel Chanc Price.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery. Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.
