Frances Davis passed away on February 15, 2019 at the Rosebud Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was born on September 6, 1928 in Belle Fouche, South Dakota to Leon and Nellie Tillery. She attended school in Nisland, South Dakota and college at the Black Hills State Teacher College. She taught school near Camp Crook where she met her husband, Gilmer Davis. They married in 1948 and had 5 children.
In 1962 they moved to Rosebud, Montana and continued to farm and ranch on Sweeny Creek. She worked as a school teacher in Cartersville, Montana and beet dump operator in Hathaway. In 1976, they sold the ranch and move to town. She worked as the postmistress in Rosebud until retirement, then spent many winters in Arizona until her husband passed away.
She loved to garden, sew, knit, crochet and work on craft projects. She learned to paint while in Arizona and was quite the artist.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Mitzkus (Andy), Roxie Davis, Joyce Davis (Corbin Howard); two sons, Todd Davis (Kit), Tim Davis (Debbie); one sister, Jeanne Nichols; 14 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Family to receive friends is from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Stevenson and Sons. Burial will follow at the Forsyth Cemetery. So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I remember as a student in Home Ec, we went on a field trip to see her new kitchen appliance, the microwave and she made baked apples for each of us. I still make baked apples that way to this day. God Bless you all.
