Frances Schwartz

Visitation: Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.

Funeral Service: Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry.

Graveside Service: Prairie County Cemetery.

Frances Schwartz, age 82, of Terry passed away on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Glendive Medical Center.

Frances was born in January 13, 1929 in Glendive, MT to Conrad and Lydia (Dickoff) Hess. Frances grew up on the family ranch North of Terry, MT where she attended Bad Route Country School. Growing up Frances remembered riding horses back and forth to school except in winter when her father would take them in the covered wagon. She had many fond memories of her horse Beauty, whom she rode near the ranch in the Bad Lands. She later graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive, MT. She went on to get college in Dillon, MT where she received a degree in teaching. After school she met and married Henry Hank Schwartz and to this union they had four children, Russell, Irene, Peggy and Susan. Frances and Henry were married for 56 years until Henry passed away in May of 2005. Frances taught at many public and country schools throughout Eastern Montana and educated hundreds of children over the years. She also started a kindergarten class in Glendive that she taught for 15 years. Before retiring from teaching she received her Masters Degree from the University of North Dakota. She was an active antique dealer for over forty years. She and Henry also managed the Kempton Hotel in Terry for many years.

Frances loved to go dancing with her husband Henry. Wherever she lived she enjoyed maintaining and keeping a beautiful yard and garden, she truly had a green thumb. She and Henry enjoyed traveling and traveled all over the U.S. but she was just as happy taking a leisurely Sunday drive. During their travels she and Henry loved attending and participating in antique shows.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one daughter Irene Margaret Moren.

Frances is survived by her son, Russell (Linda) Schwartz of Fairbanks, AL; two daughters, Peggy Mouat of Absorkee, MT and Susan Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Clara Denby and Margaret (Zabrocki) Gibs.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery.
