Our beloved father, brother, uncle, and grandfather Francis Daniel Shoulderblade returned to our Creator on September 25, 2015. Francis was born on December 30, 1960. His Cheyenne name was Buffalo Stands, baptized as Catholic, a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe from the So’tae’o Band and his nickname was Frenchie. He attended school at the Lame Deer Public School. His companion was Sharon Starr from Hammon OK. Francis was a Cheyenne ceremonial man. His was very knowledgeable in the Sundance. He was 15 when he sponsored his first Sundance and danced four times in the Big Lodge. He enjoyed teaching others our ceremonies and assisted many to find their spiritual connection to our Creator. He was a member of the Elk Society. He enjoyed sharing and teaching his ceremonial rites with his nephews Allen Joe Blackwolf and Thomas B. Shoulderblade. He loved Allen Joe and enjoyed long visits with him.
He enjoyed life by praying and fasting for the Cheyenne people, singing Sundance and sweat songs, participating in the sweat lodge.
