In the early morning hours of January 25, 2022 “WeeWee” (Vonda Limpy) came after her beloved husband Francis Limpy Sr. to begin his journey to the other camp.
Appearing Good “Paveme’ehne” was born on August 26, 1936 to Mary Limpy-Bighead and Ike Shoulderblade in Ashland, MT. Francis was the oldest of six kids. He was baptized on September 20, 1942. Francis began working at an early age and continued faithfully until his retirement in 1994. Francis enlisted in the Navy when he turned 18 and returned to marry his high school sweetheart, Vonda Robinson. They made their first home in Billings, Mt. Francis then participated in the relocation training program in southern California. The training Francis received as an instrument technician provided employment at the Federal Aviation Administration and Montana Power. The couple lived in Nevada, Oklahoma and Wyoming before moving back home in 1975 where Francis began employment with Montana Power. At the time of his retirement, Francis had acheived the level of Supervisor which says a lot about his work ethic.
After moving home, Francis became actively involved in his traditional ways as the pipe carrier of the Kit Fox Society. He formed a strong family bond with Charles and Marcelline Littleoldman, Beaver and Ernestine Two Moons, Tom and Charlotte Rockroads, Jimmy and Ernestine Red Cloud. Through the years Francis in his own words, “helped out through prayer” for many people. It was a way of life for him, but for those he blessed, the impact will last a lifetime.
Francis is preceded in death by his parents; his Aunts and Uncles, Fred, Frank Eva, Henry, and Sally; Stepfather, Ben Bighead; Sister, Amelia Oldcrow, siblings; Daniel, Emmanuel and Eva Bighead, great granddaughters, Azaria and Amelia Longie. He is survived by sisters, Mary Ann Still Smoking (Joe), Mabel Killsnight, Betty Jo Williams, Corinne Washee, Anna Lou Black; Frankie Jo Lime, Donna Gonzalez and brother Buster Long Jaw. Also the children of Mary Ann and Emmanuel. Children Rocky(Lora) Limpy, Brenda Limpy, Karla(Johnny) Lei and Patrice Limpy. In addition, he claimed Lonnie Littlebird and Jodi Martin as his own, children. Grandchildren; Floyd, Rockelle, Alayna, Jeffrey, Tommy, Terri Jo, Justin, Smiley, Haley, Peach, Vonnda, Taylor, Angel, Robby, Bear, Eleece, Clayton, Cierra, Ashley, Mykayla, Elizabeth, Francis, Joanna, Kameron, Robby and Tylo. Great Grandchildren; Traylee, Carnell, Kazmir, Bronxtyn, Grytt, Avalyn, Coy, Chase, Jadrian, Kolson, Ryatt, Misol, Warrior, Riley, Kobe, Mckenna, Aakylah, Damon, Daya, Durand, Andreya, Farren, Cierra, Abbie, Kiera, Caleb, Keatyn, Creed, Adeline, Addison, Ayden, Alaina, Aurora, Beau, Timber, Miley, Sammy and Kenzie.
His extended families include Spang, Little Wolf, Bighead, Harris, Bahr, Killsnight, Hardrobe, Williams, Gonzalez, Long Jaw as well as many others that have become family over the years. We apologize for any names we forgot to mention as he has many special relatives and friends.
Francis had the ability to provide comfort to all who needed it. As a spiritual leader, he was sought after to provide naming and wedding ceremonies, along with preparing so many as they journeyed on. For those seeking spiritual healing, Francis assisted them at Bear Butte. He respected the values and traditions of the Cheyenne people, so much so that his legacy will never be forgotten.
Memories of growing up included the grandchildren stopping by the house where Francis would take them ice skating and make ‘smores while teaching them the art of making boats. By the house a small stream flowed through and they would take the boats they had created with him and float them.
All who remember Francis, saw him as a devoted husband, a respected man that believed in making a difference by smiling, being kind so much so that many said they would do anything for him.

To the Whole Family:
When you have been married for 63 years as our Brother Francis and Sister Vonda have been you understand what what love really is. They knew and together they shared their wonderful hearta with all of us. We visited them as often as we could in all the places they lived and made memories that make us smile as we did. I am grateful to have had them in our life. For as long as we knew him, Francis was an excellent provider. They both loved their large family and we all knew it. Most of all he loved WeeWee and I am grateful they had and will have each other. Please know we love you all too and are here for you as long as we can,
Auntie Sandy, Uncle Zane
