Funeral Services: will be 1 pm Monday September 20, 2010 at the Boys & Girls Club in Lame Deer, MT with burial to follow in the Lame Deer Cemetery.
On September 15, 2010, Maheoo peacefully took Francis Robert Shotgunn II, Okohkeoohneese (Two Crows), to join his sons in the Spirit World.
Francis a direct descendent of Chief Wolf Robe, was born November 18, 1956, in Crow Agency, Montana to Mary Wolftooth and Francis Shotgunn. Robert as everyone knew him was a loving husband and father who worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to hunt, fish, Indian Dance, drumming and singing, attending Pow Wows, visiting family and friends, and teaching Cheyenne History, Language, and Culture. He loved riding his motorcycle on the open highway, visiting historical Cheyenne sites.
Robert attended elementary school at Birney Day School in Birney, MT; he also went on the Indian Mormon Placement Program through which he graduated from junior high. Robert received his GED in 1975 and then attended SIPI in Albuquerque, NM where he received a basic drafting degree. SIPI was also where he met his wife SuEllen Lyons; they were married nine months later on August 15, 1977. They made Albuquerque their home until 1980, and then moved back to Lame Deer, MT. They were blessed with seven children: Ruben, Starla, Crystal, Francis III, Jesse, Matthew and Mosiah. From his children came four beautiful granddaughters: Tarynn, Shalyn, Presley, and Haily Shotgunn whom he loved and adored. His adopted children Kristina Tsosie, Deanna Brady Rojas, Fallon Fuller, Lt. Micah High Walking, Glen Glenn, Clinton Ross Fitzpatrick, Steffan Raining Bird, Brandon Tallbull, Raisa Walker, Mariah Cook, and Frank Bigman.
Robert started his employment in 1980 which at the time was Bechtel Power, than Montana Power and is now PP &L, where he worked for nineteen years. In 1999 he left his job to pursue his education. He attended Chief Dull Knife College from 2000-2002 obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree. He then transferred to MSU Billings where he received a Bachelors Degree in Education in 2004. Robert did his student teaching at Northern Cheyenne Tribal School where he remained to teach and coach for four years. He was hired in June of 2008 at Chief Dull Knife College where he was still currently teaching History, Native American Studies, Cheyenne Language, Tribal Government, Cheyenne History, and Education courses. Robert was also going to start this fall semester in obtaining his Masters Degree.Robert was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He devoted many hours to serving his Heavenly Father by serving in his church including being a Meeting Coordinator for the LDS Church from 1999 to 2006. He was a member of the Omaha Society and served as a Cheyenne Language Apprentice at Chief Dull Knife College. He also completed a Journeymen and Operator Apprenticeship through Montana Power.
Robert was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Josephine (Wolf Robe) Wolftooth; his father, Francis Shotgunn; his two sons, Ruben and Matthew Shotgunn; his brothers, Marvin Spottedelk, Rusty Locher, Lawrence Shotgunn and Mark Shotgunn. His Nephew, Leslie Spottedelk and Niece, JShon Sandcrane
Robert is survived by his Mother, Mary Wolftooth Underwood and Step-Father, Harold Underwood; his Wife, SuEllen; his Children- Starla, Crystal, Francis III, Jesse, Mosiah and his four Granddaughters. His Sisters - Erma (Wilmer) Spang, Josephine Sandcrane, Karen Locher, Linda Locher, Alice Shotgunn, Ramona Shotgunn, Roberta Shotgunn, Lawrencita Shotgunn, and Nikki Lippert. His Brothers Daniel (Delores) Fisher, Tim LittleBoy, Robert Shotgunn., and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Roberts extended family includes the Wolfblacks, Blackwolf, Bearcomesout, Fisher, Yellow Fox, Ant (aka SiouxCalf), Hubert Russel Jr., Mary Ann Whistlingelk, Weaselbears, Rowlands, Theresa Redneck, Strangeowl, Elkshoulder, Littlebear,Howling Wolf, Bullcomings, Nightwalkers, Yellow Calf, Big Left Hand, Medicine Top, MedicineBull, Willow, Friday, And Bowechop. Robert has a large family and numerous amounts of friends so if missed anyone we apologize.
