Frank J. Kloberdanz, went to be with the Lord, after a long illness, on May 20th, 2015.
Frank was born at the family farm, November 21st, 1923, the son of Felix and Pauline (Applehanz) Kloberdanz, in Sterling, CO. He was the 8th child of 11. He attended St. Anthony schools & church and continued to help with the family farm. He married Teresa Manuello in 1942. They had two sons. He continued farming for several years; worked in the oil field; and then ventured into livestock trucking when his sons were able to join him. He also did custom haying. The business came to a close in 1968 and he moved to Miles City to work for Lou and Bill Ramey, who had purchased the Pauley ranch south of Miles City. With this move, he was to become a “Naturalized Montana Native in the Miles City area”;–never to leave again. Two years later he met and married Pat Rost, and they bought their own farm on the Shirley Flats. They moved into town three years later where Frank went to work for Fort Keogh, City of Miles City for seven years and retiring from the Custer County Courthouse after nine years.
In his retirement years he did odd jobs for people around town. He would later, again enter the work force, to work at the Custer County Mental Health Center as maintenance man for about three years. From this job, Frank would enjoy complete and final retirement.
Frank was a man of many trades, he enjoyed iron work, wood working, and gardening, always sharing his yield with neighbors, which included his delicious pickle spears. He was the best at making a great batch of caramel corn. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, and camping. He was one of the founding members of the North Sterling Boat Club, and was instrumental in the construction of the first cement boat ramp at the reservoir in Sterling. Colorado. Many volunteer hours were spent at Spotted Eagle in its early years. Frank and Pat maintained a cabin in Hell Creek at the Fort Peck Reservoir for six years, enjoying time with family, friends and their poodles.
He ushered at Sacred Heart Church for many years until his illness prevented his attendance. He loved the Elks, working for many various fund raisers; served as a five year Trustee for the Miles City Chapter; and was a 50 year member. He served as a deputy for Sheriff, Tony Harbaugh which developed into a long term friendship. Not a man of idle hands, there was nothing Frank couldn’t do.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, all ten of his siblings, his step-daughter Connie Michels; and grandson, Ryan J. Watts.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kloberdanz, of Miles City; his sons Richard (Patty) Kloberdanz, of Sterling, CO; Jim Kloberdanz of Thorton, CO, and four step-children, Bruce (Anne) Rost, of Billings, MT; Carolyn Kimball of Miles City, MT; Cindy Rost, of Sierra Vista, AZ; and John (Chris) Rost, of Shepherd, MT; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
